Process crash via unbounded OpenPGP subpacket allocation
Published Oct 2, 2026 · Updated Oct 2, 2026
Memory exhaustion in Bouncy Castle C# .NET before 2.7.0 allows remote attackers to crash a parsing process with a crafted OpenPGP object. SignatureSubpacketsParser.ReadPacket and UserAttributeSubpacketsParser.ReadPacket allocate a buffer from a five-octet declared length without bounding it to the enclosing packet or available data. Exposure requires an application to parse attacker-supplied OpenPGP keys, certificates, or signatures; a short input can demand roughly 2 GB of memory before payload bytes are read.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
