Process crash via PSD channel-count mismatch
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Heap out-of-bounds read in the PSD decoder in affected OpenImageIO releases allows local users to crash image-processing applications. PSDInput::read_native_scanline() supplies spec.nchannels to PSDInput::interleave_row() even when an indexed PSD with transparency metadata created fewer channel_buffers, causing indexing past the allocated array. A user must process an attacker-controlled PSD with oiio:RawColor or psd:RawData enabled; successful exploitation terminates the consuming process without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
