JavaScript execution via unsanitized trace-name error messages
Published Oct 13, 2026 · Updated Oct 13, 2026
XSS on the Trace page in Siemens SIMATIC S7-1500 allows attackers to execute JavaScript via an imported CSV trace file. Calculated signal names from the file are included in displayed error messages without proper sanitization. Exploitation requires an authorized user with Read diagnostics rights to import the crafted file, and execution occurs in that user's browser session rather than as native controller code.
