Unauthenticated SSRF via unvalidated proxy target URLs
Published Jul 16, 2026 · Updated Jul 16, 2026
SSRF in the January proxy service in Stoat backend before 0.13.5 allows remote attackers to probe internal services through public endpoints. The /proxy and /embed routes pass unauthenticated URL query values to a shared reqwest client without resolving and rejecting private addresses, while redirects and OG media URLs receive no destination validation. Internet exposure of January is sufficient; response-type differences reveal internal service reachability, while content filtering limits direct response exfiltration.
