CVE-2026-63295Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Container isolation bypass via omitted idmap key

Published Aug 12, 2026 · Updated Aug 12, 2026

Incorrect authorization in Canonical LXD allows remote authenticated users to bypass container isolation in restricted projects. The restricted.containers.privilege checker examines only supplied configuration keys, so omitting security.idmap.isolated skips its check while the runtime treats the missing key as false. A project user able to create or update instances can obtain shared UID/GID mappings and interrupt co-tenant services by exhausting pooled per-UID resources.
