Authenticated restricted-backend access via raw URI matching
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 11, 2026
Incorrect authorization in CISA Malcolm before 26.07.0 allows remote authenticated users to reach restricted backends via crafted paths. The Nginx OpenResty check_rbac function matches the raw request URI against path_role_envs and returns success when no rule matches, while Nginx routes the normalized path. Low-privilege access is required; a traversal prefix can expose protected data or functions and permit unauthorized telemetry uploads where backends do not recheck roles.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
