Sandboxed code execution via Codecs use-after-free
Published Apr 15, 2026 · Updated Apr 15, 2026
Use after free in Google Chrome Codecs before 147.0.7727.101 allows remote attackers to execute code in the sandbox via crafted HTML. Chrome's public advisory identifies the Codecs component but keeps the underlying bug details restricted, so the freed object and invalid reuse operation are undisclosed. A target must open attacker-controlled HTML; successful exploitation provides code execution inside the renderer sandbox, with no reported sandbox escape.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
