Authenticated column enumeration via unwhitelisted sorting
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Improper input validation in REDAXO Core 5.21.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to enumerate database columns via sort requests. rex_list::getSortColumn() returns the sort parameter without checking the setColumnSortable() whitelist, and prepareQuery() adds the escaped identifier to ORDER BY. Any authenticated backend account can test column existence through propagated database errors or order records by unselected sensitive fields, but cannot execute arbitrary SQL.
