CVE-2026-62993Network attack vector

SSRF via unvalidated redirects in fetch handlers

Published Aug 31, 2026 · Updated Sep 2, 2026

SSRF in Smarty before 4.5.7 and 5.0.0 through 5.8.1 allows remote attackers to reach internal endpoints via a crafted fetch target. The {fetch} handlers validate only the initial URL against trusted_uri, then file_get_contents() follows an HTTPS redirect without revalidating its destination. Exploitation requires an active security policy, attacker influence over the fetch target, and an open redirect on an allowlisted host; the server can then read from an attacker-chosen internal endpoint.
