Authenticated service interrupt via deserialization
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026
Deserialization of untrusted data in Microsoft Exchange Server before August 2026 updates allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service. Microsoft's public records identify only an Exchange deserialization path that processes untrusted data; they do not name the exposed component, message type, or code path that accepts attacker-controlled data before deserializing it. Reachability requires valid Exchange credentials and network access to the affected server, and the published impact is bounded to availability with no stated capability to read data, modify data, or execute code.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Published CVSS scores
CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
