CVE-2026-62892

Local privilege escalation via camsvc use-after-free

Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Use-after-free in Microsoft Windows Capability Access Management Service (camsvc) allows local users to gain higher privileges. Microsoft has disclosed only the memory-safety class and component: public records retrieved here do not identify the affected function, object lifetime bug, or attacker-controlled operation beyond camsvc referencing freed memory. Exploitation requires local authenticated access with low privileges and no user interaction, and the published CVSS indicates compromise of the host from the service's elevated context rather than a remote entry point.
