CVE-2026-62836Network attack vector

Unauthenticated privilege escalation over network

Published Aug 6, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Improper endpoint restriction in Microsoft Azure SQL Managed Instance allows remote attackers to gain elevated privileges over a network. Microsoft has not published which communication channel, request path, or endpoint check accepts traffic for unintended destinations, so the concrete privilege-boundary failure is undisclosed beyond the CWE-923 classification. The public record indicates network reachability without listed prerequisite privileges or user interaction, but it does not show whether the resulting access is confined to database roles or extends into broader service control.
