CVE-2026-62832

Privilege escalation via link following

Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Improper link resolution in Windows User Profile Service allows local users to elevate privileges on affected Windows systems. Microsoft's advisory identifies the service as following attacker-controlled links before a privileged file access, but does not disclose the specific file path or operation involved. Exploitation requires local authenticated code execution and is bounded to privilege escalation on the same host, with no vendor evidence of a remote entry point.
