User-assisted code execution via stack buffer overflow
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026
Remote code execution in Microsoft Remote Desktop Client on Windows releases allows remote attackers to execute code via a malicious RDP server. Microsoft has disclosed only that the client overruns a stack buffer while processing attacker-controlled RDP traffic; no vulnerable function or message type is public. Exploitation requires user interaction because a user must initiate an RDP connection to the hostile server, after which code runs in the Remote Desktop Client security context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
