CVE-2026-62812

Local privilege escalation via improper link resolution

Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Link following in Windows DHCP Server on affected Windows releases allows local users with low privileges to elevate privileges. The server resolves a link before file access without preventing it from redirecting the operation to an unintended resource. Microsoft has not disclosed the affected file operation or the privileges ultimately obtained; exploitation requires local low-privilege access and no user interaction.
