CVE-2026-62790Network attack vector

Authenticated code execution via SMB heap overflow

Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft Windows SMB Server allows remote authenticated users to execute code over a network. Microsoft has not disclosed the SMBv3 parsing locus or the untrusted length or copy operation that overruns heap storage. Low-privileged SMB access and network reachability are required; successful exploitation executes attacker-controlled code on the target.
