Authenticated privilege escalation via Kerberos double free
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026
Double free in Windows Kerberos in Microsoft Windows 11 and Windows Server 2025 allows local authenticated users to gain elevated privileges. Microsoft has disclosed only the bug class in the Windows Kerberos component: the component frees the same memory more than once, corrupting allocator state. Local code execution with existing privileges is the known gate, and public records do not identify the exact routine or any effect beyond privilege escalation on the affected host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
Public exploit references
No public exploit references are available in this record.
Labels summarize the accepted research assessment. They do not indicate a test against your environment.
