Policy bypass via fail-open shell parsing

Published Aug 21, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026

Policy bypass in Omnigent before 0.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to evade repository and workspace restrictions. The shared parser in omnigent/policies/builtins/_shell.py returns no operation for combined interpreter flags, wrappers, substitutions, and a lone background operator, so GitHub and working-directory policies abstain and allow execution. Access to an agent session or prompt injection is required; successful exploitation permits unauthorized pushes or workspace escape.
