Arbitrary file read via unsanitized media paths
Published Jul 30, 2026 · Updated Jul 30, 2026
Path traversal in Banks before 2.4.4 allows remote attackers to read files accessible to the Python process through crafted template variables. Media filters convert image, audio, video, and document values with Path(value), then from_path methods open them without canonicalization or directory containment checks and embed base64-encoded contents in rendered output. Reachability requires an application to place attacker-controlled variables into a template using an affected filter; disclosure is limited to files readable by the hosting process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
