Account takeover via session username spoofing
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Authentication bypass in Roundcube Webmail 1.6.0 through 1.6.16 and 1.7.0 through 1.7.1 allows remote authenticated users to take over accounts. The password plugin drivers trust a username stored in session data when selecting the backend account whose password is changed, rather than binding that operation to the authenticated user identity. Exploitation requires low-privileged access and user interaction; success changes another account’s password and enables account takeover without interrupting service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
