Authenticated code execution via blocked-extension rename
Published Apr 20, 2026 · Updated Apr 20, 2026
Remote code execution in Vvveb CMS 1.0.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute operating system commands through media renames. The rename() handler in system/traits/media.php detects .php and .htaccess as denied extensions but continues into the filesystem rename because the rejection branch lacks a return. Administrative media access permits chaining an .htaccess PHP-handler injection with a renamed PHP payload, which runs with the web server account's privileges.
