CVE-2026-62428

Guest-to-host escalation via mismatched grant-copy page

Published Jul 28, 2026 · Updated Jul 28, 2026

Type confusion in Xen 4.2 and later allows guest OS users to gain host privileges through concurrent grant-copy operations. When a grant is already pinned, the grant-table path can return inconsistent page data, so permission checks cover a different page from the copy. An unprivileged guest must race a mapping or another copy; successful exploitation can expose or alter host data or interrupt the host.
