CVE-2026-62424

Host-control escalation via unchecked NM entry length

Published Jul 28, 2026 · Updated Jul 28, 2026

Buffer overrun in Xen 3.2 and later allows guest OS users to gain domain-construction privileges through a crafted pygrub disk image. The libfsimage ISO9660 driver's Rock Ridge NM parser trusts the on-disk entry length without validating it before processing the name record. The guest must boot through pygrub; those privileges normally permit host control, but deprivileged pygrub confines escalation to its limited context.
