Authenticated service crash via AddScopes format string
Published Jun 5, 2026 · Updated Jun 5, 2026
Format string injection in TP-Link Tapo C520WS v2 before 1.2.6 Build 260528 allows remote authenticated users to crash the ONVIF service. The AddScopes handler passes user-controlled ONVIF scope parameters to formatting functions without sanitizing injected format specifiers. Exploitation requires high-privilege authentication from an adjacent network and interrupts the ONVIF management service without reported data disclosure or modification.
