Authenticated local-file access via Spark alias bypass
Published Jul 31, 2026 · Updated Jul 31, 2026
Path traversal in Apache Kyuubi 1.6.0 through 1.11.1 allows remote authenticated users to access disallowed local files. The session configuration filter checks prefixed Kyuubi settings but accepts equivalent unprefixed Spark file-configuration aliases, evading kyuubi.session.local.dir.allowlist. Access to a Kyuubi frontend protocol is required, and file reachability remains bounded by the Kyuubi process and Spark engine permissions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
