Process interruption via crafted fx argument
Published Jul 30, 2026 · Updated Jul 30, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in ImageMagick before 7.1.2-27 allows local users to interrupt an image-processing process via a crafted fx argument. The fx operation writes beyond a heap buffer while evaluating the argument, but the upstream advisory does not identify the affected function, buffer, or missing bounds check. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and user interaction; the published assessment limits the demonstrated consequence to loss of availability.
