CVE-2026-62294

Local file overwrite via predictable temporary path

Published Jul 15, 2026 · Updated Jul 15, 2026

Insecure temporary-file handling in Flameshot before 14.0.0 allows local users to overwrite files through the Open With feature. The launcher derives a minute-resolution path in /tmp, treats a broken symlink as absent, then saves PNG data through the link without exclusive creation. An attacker must share the machine, predict and pre-plant the path, and wait for the victim to use Open With; targets are limited to files writable by the victim.
