Authenticated service interruption via regex_replace
Published Jul 17, 2026 · Updated Jul 17, 2026
Regular expression denial of service in Grav before 2.0.4 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service through crafted page content. The sandbox allowlists regex_replace, whose implementation passes an editor-controlled pattern directly to PHP preg_replace without complexity validation. Exploitation requires page-edit access and the nondefault security.twig_content.process_enabled setting; a crafted page can saturate PHP workers and make the site unresponsive.
