Stored XSS via unencoded UPnP mapping description
Published Jul 12, 2026 · Updated Jul 12, 2026
Stored XSS in OpenWrt LuCI's luci-app-upnp module allows remote attackers on the LAN to execute JavaScript in an administrator's browser. The RPC backend reads NewPortMappingDescription from miniupnpd's lease file, and cbi_update_table passes rule.descr to innerHTML without output encoding. UPnP must be enabled, the attacker must reach its LAN control endpoint, and an authenticated administrator must view the UPnP or Status page.
