Application crash via unchecked XMP entity resize
Published Jul 11, 2026 · Updated Jul 11, 2026
Heap use-after-free in ImageMagick 7 before 7.1.2-26 and 6 before 6.9.13-51 allows remote attackers to crash applications. ParseEntities in MagickCore/xml-tree.c fails to check whether ResizeQuantumMemory returns null while expanding entities in a crafted XMP profile, then writes through the invalid pointer. Exploitation requires XMP metadata to reach the shared XML parser; the documented consequence is an application crash, not data access or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
