Ownership bypass via folder metadata filename collisions

Published Oct 14, 2026 · Updated Oct 14, 2026

Authorization bypass in error311 FileRise before 3.18.0 allows remote authenticated users to read files via metadata collisions. Folder-path conversion replaces separators and spaces with hyphens, merging distinct folders' metadata; FileController::enforceSingleFileReadAccess() trusts the resulting uploader value. Exploitation requires control of a colliding folder, a known target basename, and read_own access to the target folder; edit-own permission also enables modification.
