Process-global mutation via inherited property traversal

Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026

Prototype pollution in scim-patch 0.9.1 allows remote authenticated users to mutate shared built-in method objects through SCIM PATCH input. navigate() reads inherited properties and assign() treats prototype-chain keys as existing, so a path such as toString.polluted reaches and writes to a shared function object. The attacker must control a SCIM PATCH operation; the resulting process-global properties affect application logic that reads inherited-method properties.
