Privilege escalation via unquoted time decoder SQL
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
SQL injection in pg_partman before 5.5.0 allows remote authenticated users to gain PostgreSQL superuser privileges. The affected functions splice the writable part_config.time_dncoder value into dynamic SQL as raw text rather than quoting it as an identifier. A role with documented partman_user grants can poison the stored value; a later privileged call can compromise the database and execute operating-system commands as the PostgreSQL service account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
