Authenticated service interruption via unchecked machine restart
Published Sep 21, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026
Missing authorization in InvenTree before 1.4.0 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt registered machine operations via the restart API. The MachineRestart view accepts the request under IsAuthenticatedOrReadScope and calls registry.restart_machine() without an ADMIN-role check. Any signed-in non-admin account, including a STOCK-only warehouse user, can reset any registered machine and interrupt printing, scanning, or other active work.
