File disclosure and SSRF via unsafe XML parsing
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
XXE in http4s-scala-xml before 0.24.1 and 1.0.0-M1 through 1.0.0-M38 allows remote attackers to read files or issue server requests. EntityDecoder instances create SAXParserFactory parsers with default JDK settings, leaving DOCTYPE declarations and external general, parameter, and DTD resolution enabled. Exploitation requires an application to parse attacker-controlled XML with these decoders; successful payloads read process-accessible files, reach internal resources, or exhaust resources through entity expansion.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
