File disclosure via unchecked banner language paths
Published Oct 15, 2026 · Updated Oct 15, 2026
Path traversal in OpenPrinting CUPS before 2.4.20 allows remote attackers to read files through crafted IPP print jobs. copy_banner() in scheduler/ipp.c uses attributes-natural-language beneath DataDir/banners without rejecting path separators, copying reachable files into job sheets. Disclosure requires submission to a banner-capable queue, a registered banner basename reachable at the traversed path, and an attacker-observable backend destination; arbitrary target selection additionally requires prepared path state such as a matching symlink, and filesystem permissions and sandboxing limit access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
