Process crash via unchecked negative protobuf length
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Denial of service in Block, Inc. Wire before 6.4.1 and 7.0.0-alpha01 through 7.0.0-alpha03 allows remote attackers to crash Swift processes. ProtoReader.skipGroup() passes a negative LENGTH_DELIMITED count through an upper-bound-only ReadBuffer check to Foundation Data, which raises an unrecoverable process trap. Any process that decodes untrusted protobuf bytes is exposed without authentication, user interaction, or knowledge of its message schema.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
