Photo disclosure via unthrottled album password guessing
Published Oct 15, 2026 · Updated Oct 15, 2026
Missing unlock throttling in Lychee before 7.6.1 allows remote attackers to read private photos by guessing album passwords. POST /api/v2/Album::unlock accepts any caller, and app/Actions/Album/Unlock.php checks each guess with Hash::check without limiting repeated failures. Exploitation requires a known or obtainable album identifier and recovery of its password; the disclosed consequence is read access to that album's private photo collection.
