Service hang via stalled strip_html loop

Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Infinite loop in the strip_html filter in Harttle LiquidJS 10.26.0 through 10.27.0 allows remote attackers to hang template rendering. When an unclosed less-than sign follows other text, the closer search returns -1, but the loop index remains unchanged and the equality-only stall guard fails. Any application that passes attacker-controlled text through the filter can have its rendering process blocked by an input as short as a<.
