Privilege escalation via unescaped template imports
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
DSL injection in affected Icinga 2 releases before 2.14.9, 2.15.4, or 2.16.2 allows remote authenticated users to exceed API privileges. ConfigWriter::EmitScope places each API-supplied import name between raw double quotes, so an embedded quote terminates the intended import and appends attacker-chosen DSL objects. Exploitation requires an ApiUser with an objects/create/* permission; injected objects can exceed that account's assigned privileges and affect the monitored system.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
