Unauthenticated code execution via Storable deserialization
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Deserialization in Apache Lucy all versions allows remote attackers to execute code or crash SearchServer through crafted RPC data. LucyX::Remote::SearchServer passes an unauthenticated network request body to Perl Storable::thaw without validating the serialized object graph. Exposure requires the optional remote search server to be running and reachable; local-only library use lacks the network entry point.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
