Authenticated arbitrary file upload via unchecked media replacement
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Unrestricted file upload in Team Taggart LLC LightSync Pro 2.1.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to write arbitrary files. The REST media-replacement handler rest_replace_media() accepts uploaded content without validating its file type before storing it on the WordPress server. The required gate is an Author-level account or higher, and a server-executable upload enables code execution in the site's hosting context.
