Service interruption via unchecked SASL frame allocation
Published Oct 2, 2026 · Updated Oct 2, 2026
Resource exhaustion in Apache Thrift Java TSaslNonblockingServer before 0.25.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt service via SASL frames. Its FrameReader allocates a payload buffer from a peer-declared frame length before the corresponding payload arrives, allowing memory pressure from short inputs. Exploitation requires a reachable server using the Java SASL nonblocking implementation; the supported impact is service interruption, not data access.
