Unauthenticated command execution via unprotected message endpoint
Published Apr 12, 2026 · Updated Apr 12, 2026
Missing authentication in the CowAgent Agent Mode Service 2.0.0 through 2.0.4 allows remote attackers to execute OS commands. The Web Console registers its /message route without authentication and binds the service to all network interfaces; submitted instructions can reach a shell-backed agent tool. Reachability to port 9899 with Agent mode and the web channel enabled is sufficient, and commands run with the CowAgent process user's file and network access.
