Stored XSS via form-encoded REST sanitization bypass
Published May 1, 2026 · Updated May 1, 2026
Stored XSS in Elementor Website Builder 4.0.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through the REST API. The sanitize_post_data function decodes only JSON bodies, so form-encoded _elementor_data bypasses sanitization and reaches unescaped widget output. Contributor access permits storing the payload, which executes when another user views or previews the affected page.
