Internal service probing via unvalidated image URLs
Published Apr 12, 2026 · Updated Apr 12, 2026
Server-side request forgery in Foundation Agents MetaGPT 0.8.0 and 0.8.1 allows remote authenticated users to probe internal services. decode_image in metagpt/utils/common.py accepts any img_url_or_b64 value starting with http, fetches it with requests.get, and passes the response to PIL without validating the destination. Reachability requires influence over an image URL, such as through an LLM prompt or manipulated API response; arbitrary non-image response content is not directly exposed.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
