Archive entry injection via wrapped TAR size
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Integer overflow in the PHP Phar TAR parser allows attackers to inject archive entries into extracted content via crafted TAR files. phar_tar_number() accumulates an 11-digit octal size into uint32_t without an overflow check, so wrapped sizes misalign block skipping and make file data parse as headers. An application must open an untrusted archive with PharData or phar://; injected entries can replace manifest files and be written by extractTo().

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
