SQL injection via unsanitized author exclusion

Published Jul 17, 2026 · Updated Jul 17, 2026

SQL injection in WP_Query in affected WordPress releases allows attackers to read database data via crafted author exclusions. WP_Query sanitizes author__not_in only when it is an array, then casts other inputs to arrays and interpolates their raw values into a NOT IN SQL clause. The vulnerable ranges are 6.8.0 through 6.8.5, 6.9.0 through 6.9.4, and 7.0.0 through 7.0.1; exploitation requires a plugin or theme to pass attacker-controlled input to the parameter.
