Arbitrary JSON file write via restore keys
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Path traversal in Sustainable Irrigation Platform through 5.2.16 allows remote attackers to write arbitrary JSON files via a crafted backup. The POST handler in plugins/backup_settings.py appends each unvalidated top-level JSON key to ./data/ and opens the resulting path for writing. The restore page is remotely reachable when passphrase protection is disabled by default, while unchanged installations also retain the default passphrase.
