Authenticated code execution via unrestricted file upload
Published Jul 20, 2026 · Updated Jul 20, 2026
Unrestricted file upload in ThemeXpert JMedia 1.0 through 1.5.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary server code. The media upload path accepts executable content, including polyglot filenames, and its chmod handling leaves executable permission bits intact. A privileged Joomla session is required; successful uploads can run with the web server's permissions and compromise hosted site data and availability.
